Even though
we are a tree care company there are many reasons why a tree may
need to be removed, such as:
1. Dead or Dying Trees
Dead trees can be very dangerous in the urban environment and in
some cases may constitute a case of “willful neglect”
on the part of their owners. If you dead tree falls and causes damage
to someone else’s property or personal injury you can be held
liable.
If you have a question as to whether or not your ailing tree is
salvageable, consult a professional arborist at Matthew R. Foti
Landscape & Tree Service, Inc. Very often it is a hard decision
to make without the guidance of a trained professional. If your
tree needs to be removed be sure that the company you hire has the
necessary skill and insurance required. If a homeowner neglects
to ask a tree company if they are insured, the homeowner may become
liable due to an accident causing property damage or personal injury
during the removal process.
2. Home or Landscape Construction
Trees may need to be removed to necessitate home or landscape construction
projects.
3. Sunlight Requirements
Often trees are removed to increase sunlight requirements to grow
lawns, flowers or other more desirable plants. The professionals
at Matthew R. Foti Landscape & Tree Service, Inc. suggest that
you stand in the shade of your tree in question at different times
of the day such as 10am, 12pm and 2pm to see first hand where shade
comes from.
4. Hazard Trees
Often trees have structural defects that need to be diagnosed by
trained professional. It takes along time to grow a mature tree,
always make a calculated decision with the help of a professional
arborist.
Remember
that trees have four basic values:
1. shade
2. aesthetics
3. provide buffer or screen
4. sentimental value
By going through the four basic values you can help yourself make
a decision about whether or not to remove a tree.
1. Is the tree giving you shade that you want and need?
2. Is the tree aesthetically pleasing? “Beauty is in the eye
of the beholder”.
3. Is the trees foliage providing a buffer or screen that you desire?
4. Does the tree have sentimental value?
Winter is very often the best time to remove a tree since the ground
is frozen there is the least impact on the entire landscape.
Stump Grinding
Tree stumps left behind from tree removal can be unsightly and even
cause a trip hazard. There are two solutions to this problem:
1. Stump excavation probably is the most effective
way to get completely rid of a tree stumps but also the most intrusive
to the landscape and most costly. This process often requires a
backhoe digging a large hole that needs to be filled in afterwards.
There is also a disposal charge for a stump that has been excavated.
If you are planning a walkway or a driveway surface where your stump
is than you will need to excavate the stump.
2. Stump grinding is the quickest, least intrusive
and most cost effective way to remove a stump. In this process a
large wheel with carbide teeth grinds the stump 6-8’ below
the surface. After the grindings are removed then soil can be used
to fill the hole to plant grass or have a garden.
